To say that the teenaged Jez Pereira was lucky enough to be propelled to the upper echelons of the Mumbai music scene would be a lie. It wasn’t luck. It was down to talent, determination and his unique signature freestyle sound. The charismatic DJ – from humble beginnings in Mumbai – has carved his way to a successful international DJ career whilst still finding the time to get in the studio and firming up a solid relationship with the mighty S&S Records, Chicago. They asked him to remix Steve “Silk” Hurley’s global No1 smash hit, Jack Your Body, which Jez co- wrote with Elijah Collins. As if this wasn’t enough, they even asked him to remix the late and very very great Frankie Knuckles signature track, Baby Wants To Ride! Definitely two of Jez’s biggest honors in his production career to date.
His fast-growing formidable reputation has led to a long list of main room appearances such as John Digweed ‘s Bedrock where he opened for Xpress 2, The Gallery at Ministry of Sound and Tao Club, Las Vegas where he opened for Erick Morillo. With his profile growing in the UK and worldwide, celebrity ears have become no strangers to Jez’s talent, having regularly spun the wheels at some of the most prestigious events all around the globe – lining up alongside the likes of Idris Elba, Will.I.Am, Mark Ronson, Mark Knight and Pete Tong.
Jez Pereira’s flight is still in the ascendancy – recently flown by private jet to the Monaco Grand Prix where he dazzled on the decks of The Indian Empress yacht performing for the Force India F1 Team. Not the first time the Cote d’Azure has witnessed his outstanding talent, he smashed it at the Fashion TV’s Anniversary bash during the Cannes Film Festival.
The list of high profile global bookings goes on… Amsterdam & Tokyo for Red Bull; The Barbados Music Festival; the Burning Man Festival (Nevada, Texas); Pacha Buzios, Brazil; Pacha Ibiza’s NYE party in Italy, The End Bogota, Colombia and the prestigious Armani Privé Club in Dubai.
2014 has so far signalled that the sky is the limit. Nominated in the Best DJ category in the upcoming London Bar & Club Awards 2014, the world is undoubtedly his oyster.
